Even for those of us who’d rather let birthdays just sliiiide by, they do have their uses.
Our last gathering – major birthday - for the New Jersey branch of the family was almost two years ago. This past weekend brought us together for two more milestone days. We’ve all managed to get to the other side of the past year and a half, so it was more of a joy than usual to see each other. Some of us are taller (grandkids), some grayer (guess who), but we’re all looking forward with a new perspective.While nothing special, our hotel room was a small step above some of the places we’ve had to stay when we’ve traveled with the dog. Still, the towel allotment was the bare minimum and the pictures were cemented together to discourage theft – and viewing for that matter.
I was grousing about being allotted only one bar of soap in our room, and My Guy joked that we probably didn’t even get issued a Bible, which of course led to an inspection of the bedside drawers. Times are perilous, I guess, if hotels are doubling up on conversion.
Maybe next time we stay we’ll find a Koran added to the grouping.
